The guard reserve Veterans administration associate unit program*

The guard reserve Veterans administration associate unit program*

The air guard and air force reserve both commonly serve alongside active duty units and share active duty equipment, our plan is similar in nature and could save money by pooling resources and talent that serves both military and veterans administration patients alike.

  • Examples of the units slots; 10 dual slotted VA civil service/reserve membership required employees**
  • 10 department of defense civil service/reserve membership***
  • 10 active duty personnel and 100 drilling reservists
  • Ten VA employees tasked to the unit
  • This represents an additional form or clinic  at ech VA hospital or clinic

15 wounded warrior slots

  • These are reservists and guardsman who do not have the time in service to retire and have injuries that make them not deployable overseas
  • Their duty in the event of mobilization shall be to run the unit at home while the rest deploy. These wounded warriors shall provide for the needs of deployed service members families back home
  • They should be allowed to continue serving because they have value and knowledge and its the compassionate thing to do.

VA patients; a learning experience!

  • The population of VA patients provides an everyday opportunity for military personnel to practice their trades and to provide insight into the full clinical life cycle of a patient who serves and becomes a VA patient
  • A population of former and current military patients provides an everyday training opportunity for the reservist practitioner
  • Each DOD/VA in residence /associate unit should have a reserve guard chaplain unit since spiritual counseling hand in hand with the needs of the wounded warrior,I  think that a chaplain unit that is a composite unit of guard/reserve and VA employees might make it possible to put  dent in the high suicide  rates.

The VA is a lesson to any NCO and or officer who see it as his/her duty to Kick out of the service our wounded warriors without compensation…………………………………..

This Project of mine would need a DOD/VA MOU ( Memorandum of understanding) perhaps this could be  pilot program?

ESOP/COOP partnerships, income equality and capital expansion for worker owners

  • Coop/ESOP owns a farm worker labor service.

Individual farmers form a farm labor LLC and sell the LLC to the COOP/ESOP, the LLC is the farmers hired farm workers or employees service performed and this is an asset.

The LLC sell to the farmer’s coop is the incentive to the farmer to place her farm workers in to the employment of the Coop/ESOP so that those employees may share in the progits of the coop/ESOP

Farmers receive capital from the sale of the farm worker LLC

Farmers pay the co-op/ESOP for the farm labor, the farm labor are now employees of the ESOP/Coop entity and are thus employee owners

Farm labor participates in the ESOP and looks to income equality and home ownership opportunities.

Co Op food processing labor also participates in the farmers coops ESOP along side farm labor; both groups recover the surplus value of labor through the ESOP and greater employee participation and innovation.

Coop acquisition strategy through the leveraged ESOP; expanding farm and food processing labor income equality

  • Let us use Land O lakes farmers co op as an example, it has 3000 employees in its food processing plants and the coop has a value of $ 6,758,210,000
  • So a leveraged ESOP purchases 49% for $3,379,105,000 and cash flows over time pay down this debt and this becomes employee owned equity.
  • Land O Lakes a co op/ESOP partnership and flush with $ 3 Billion now goes and acquires another coop and that coop now becomes 49% employee owned.
  • An example of an acquisition target might be Ocean Spray Cranberry farmers cooperative.
  • Most Farmers coops-are non-profit
  • so the ESOP would have to own a corporation in a GP with the non-profit
  • In the case of for profit coops, the ESOP percentage of ownership is tax-free cash flows.
  • each individual farmer places his farm workers into a farm worker leasing company(LLC) and sells the LLC to the CO-OP.

The Land O lakes and Ocean Spray both are farm labor intensive and its these farm workers most in need of income equality. The Proposed ESOP would leverage loaned equity through the ESOP to purchase 49% of the other CO-OP.Both co-ops are labor intensive in the processing of the products and these workers in the plants would own 49% after the leveraged ESOP loans were paid off

University student government operated community development corporation

University student government-owned and operated food trucks a community engagement project and AmeriCorps employer/partner

What is the concept?

University of Michigan student government as AmeriCorps Vista employer and small business incubator

  • Food truck entrepreneurship program as a community engagement project.
  • Food Truck is owned by the student government with an eye to future ownership sharing with Hud zone eligible employee owners(ESOP).
  • Profits from the truck grow the business; but also fund student government scholarships.
  • Food truck developer is the manager of the truck and is the AmeriCorps volunteer, as such she is charged with melding student employees with members of the community who need to be Inspired to be future employee owners

Student government-owned food truck as a community economic engine for growth

Student government as grant writer

  • Write grants for truck; promise to use cash flow to grow the business, pay scholarships, pay a living wage to all food truck employees with the free capital of the truck.
  • Student government will hire employees who are veteran,Hud zone, Michigan works,DHS,student need based and disabled.

University provides AmeriCorps cost sharing

  • University provides living stipend in the form of a grant of free student housing to a need based student who is a food truck employee or AmeriCorps volunteer.
  • Student is allowed the difference in cost of attendance as a financial aid refund.
  • University provides parking lots and sidewalk and lawn space to student government-owned and partnered food trucks.

Tax and training incentives

  • The food truck will receive tax payments from the IRS as an incentive for employing the above groups.
  • The food truck will receive Michigan works job training funds.
  • The food truck business shall receive assistance from the Michigan disability commission for employing disabled owners

AmeriCorps contributions

Business plan

  • Community foundations pay the costs of 5 food trucks over ten years based on performance and AmeriCorps and student government and university partners.
  • Student government pledges to use the enhanced cash flow from the free food trucks to (A) expand the business(B) employ needs based students and members of the community identified through community engagement(C) use cash flow for scholarships(D)pay a living wage to all food truck employees(E)Student government pledges to “let go” of ownership to partial and full ownership of food trucks over a period of time to employee owners and to,  use the sale proceeds from sold food trucks to expand this student/community project.

Flint food truck court partners with farmers market

USDA , MRS grant to fund a handicap accessible food truck

This is it alternative to foundation funding ; government SBIR and state disability funding.

USDA SBIR

›To design a food truck with wheel chair lifts for excess and egress.

›Wheel chair height appropriate  cooking and food preparation surfaces and point of sale/ customer  counter.

hydraulic wheelchair lifts inside  truck bring employee up to working surfaces heights

›We want to maintain intellectual property and manufacturing rights

S corporation partners with the student government and ESOP partner

ESOP as community  social entrepreneurship vehicle

›Food truck ESOP employees can move about between food trucks in the S corporation, as such their ownership equity is portable!

›Minimum wage employees are the most likely to need government and non-profit support, and many will be minimum wage workers for their entire careers.

›A ESOP allows for many decades of cash flow from food sales to become future wealth to other wise poor people.

›Creative motivated ESOP workers can become S Corporation owners or managers, upward mobility!

› student  government, Greeks, other students could go to work at this project full-time after graduation!

Student government-owned business incubator as a model national AmeriCorps Vista  program

  • The Food truck employee ownership“coach”/manager should be repeated for every truck; workforce training funds could be our partner here as well**(subsidy).
  • Food truck coach is our ESOP motivational cheerleader, she encourages the working poor and all others to contribute innovation in service to reduce employee turnover***
  • MRS provides funding for our disabled employees and S corporation partners who are disabled( subsidy).
  • IRS provides a tax credit for handicap and veteran employees (subsidy)
  • If we share these subsidies to the employee as a retention bonus we could achieve to aims,(1) our social entrepreneurship goals and,(2) reducing the high costs of ESOP employee turnover.
  • Most of these subsidies last only a year so we should “bank” them

  • IRS veteran/disabled incentives involve 20 to 40 hours a week and the employee must work most or all of that year,
  • So we must provide a rebate of the incentive to the employee, to provide that incentive to stay, some incentives must be short-term and others long-term.
  • So one incentive would be to pay a living wage or higher, the food trucks bought with grant money could easily do this but what about future ESOP employees? could we translate non-profit cash flows to the benefit of the future low wage ESOP employee?
  • Can we ensure student government honors this pledge? An employee hand book might work here as a start, for the shorter term. After all a percentage of employees will stay beyond the first year thus earning the employer the IRS credit.
  • others will be a subsidized week to week by MRS/VA/work force funds, this funding could provide the living wage incentives, the IRS incentive could be the year-end bonus!

Transferring subsidies to the future ESOP working poor; the mechanisms

›Subsidy’s to the business equal to equity to the student government/non-profit/Greek/student organization. Some  of this could be transfer to the employee quarterly  in the first year but the non-profit could when selling the food truck to the S corporation/ESOP  reimburse that loyal low wage employee who has stayed the course.another important reason to keep an employee onboard is to satisfy ESOP obligation to roll over benefits to employees who leave

›The NCEO once did a study on methods on providing employee equity to the non-profit employee, how do you do this?

›The Unitarian church came up with a method to reimburses ministers who had excess to a church provided home but would not have home equity built up over decades after retirement, the church put funds into a fund that over decades would equal to the retirement fund.

›I suggest that a non-profit food truck employee who stays the course

  • IRS veteran incentive; $10,000 if works 40 hours over one year. half for 20 hours a week
  • IRS disabled; ?
  • MRS; ?
  • Work force training funds; ?
  • Pay living wage with MRS/ work force; weekly/quarterly bonus for staying at 40 hours
  • Pay quarterly into a home ownership fund in partnership with local partners
  • Pay a quarterly/yearly wage retention bonus
  • When Student government sells the food truck this loyal employee receives a “equity” compensation (How?)I would argue for a ESOP share but I am not sure of the IRS rule making here, do we need a IRS rule making letter? We may have to simply pay the non-profit employee a cash bonus when the business sells based on service and longevity

AmeriCorps volunteer hired by winning a televised contest or we try out hands on screenwriting  :):):)!

  • This is a screen writing proposal to PBS travel channel and food channel.
  • Competitors are perhaps culinary school graduates or others who owe student loans
  • Experience and/or classes in business are important
  • Experience or education in employee equity and community development
    • The Prize or prizes could be a down payment on a food truck after 1 year service as a food truck coach.
    • The TV show would match the AmeriCorps student loan forgiveness program.
    • The community development corporation would pre approve a ESOP SBA loan
    • Contestant must demonstrate for over a week a food truck concept and menu.
    • Contestant must demonstrate execution of concepts and menu.
    • Contestant’s employees will be community members who might be students and the disadvantaged.
    • Contestant must attempt to build a team and to attempt to solicited employee participation and innovation in the food truck business
    • This televised contest can not be done in one 1 hour show.
    • This must be a 1 season show, think of “this old house” which is done over many shows.
    • The production leases 5 food trucks.
    • The production hires a diverse crew of employees for the 5 food trucks, we challenge the contestant with the chronically unemployed, homeless, student employees.
  •                                                                      Show chronology
  • First week; a 1 hour show introducing the shows concept.
  • second week;
  • Third week; food truck concept and menus
  • Fourth week; contestant must team build employees and potential employee ownership culture
  • Fifth week; contestant must be solicited innovation from potential employee owners

Food Truck business incubator show; season two

  • Employee owners become contestants!
  • This allows the working poor to become S Corporation partners
  • This means we have promoted an innovative employee owner into their own food truck!
  • Outside contestants allowed to0.
  • Former AmeriCorps job coach who are now S corporation partners are our panel of judges for season two.
  • Contestants must demonstrate employee owner team building and respect
  • Contestant must demonstrate menu/concept innovation

Hypothesis;10 food trucks with employee owners might bring a cluster of innovation

  • 5 employees per shifts’ two shifts= 10 employees.
  • 10 trucks results in 100 employees.
  • 100 employees entitled to a free meal per shift, however we should issue our own ESOP currency say $1 per hour for use in the ESOP food truck park to buy meals
  • 100 employees X 8 hours per shift = $800 per day
  • This is a form of local complementary currency

Troops to Peace Corps

Troops to Peace Corps

I propose to be the pathfinder soldier in a program I have named “troops to peace corps” Normally the peace corps require a 4 year degree, however the peace corps recruiter in Washington DC informed me that in some cases a farmer with two years of college will be accepted as this skill set is much in demand. Its possible to do both!

I am a University of Michigan student using the post 9/11 GI bill and majoring in History with a minor in international studies and anthropology.I was called to active duty twice after 9/11 and served mostly at Ft Eustis VA.I have injuries from military service from live fire  exercises that limits my lifting and stooping But I have discovered USDA programs for disabled farmers and possibly the VA might be a partner.I am matriculated at UM Flint not at Cal Poly so using VA and Fasha at both would be a problem.I have been in talks with Peace Corps recruiters for a number of years and agricultural skills are of high value as is the undergraduate degree.I already have a good set of knowledge skills on the idea of permaculture.Genesee county land bank is giving away vacant land in the city of flint to farm.This program is an important part of my agriculture plan with habitat for humanity here.After peace corps/UM Flint I would put these practices to work here in the united states as follows;

 https://yellowdragonblog.com/2014/12/19/esopcoop-partnerships-income-equality-and-capital-expansion-for-worker-owners/

 http://yellowdragonblog.com/2014/12/19/university-student-government-operated-community-development-corporation/

https://yellowdragonblog.com/2014/12/19/the-guard-reserve-veterans-administration-associate-unit-program/

My plan as a path finder for a national model requires that I attend a short course in permaculture and organic farming. I have found one such program In San Diego County that is worth 17 credit hours

http://www.ceu.csupomona.edu/specialsessions/VSAT/index.html

270 Hours Combine

The following courses are offered for this 6 week program:

PLT 437 Environmentally Sustainable Agriculture (3 units)

ABM 201 – Introduction to Agribusiness Management (3 units)

PLT 299 – Special Topics for Plant Science (3 units)

AG 299 – Special Topics in Agriculture (3 units)

ABM 310 – Seminar in Food and Agribusiness Management (3 units)

ABM 200 – Independent Study (2 units)

Like military schools this is done with an 8 hour day and in 6 weeks!

MSU has a more traditional semester program

http://www.safss.msu.edu/requirements.html

http://www.reg.msu.edu/academicprograms/ProgramDetail.asp?Program=5360

Did you know? You can buy in your Peace Corps time (27 months) in the civil service pension plan. In my case I already have bought in 5 years of military time in the federal civil service plus about 6 months of civil service time.

So I have 5 +.6 + 2.3 = 7.9 years civil service credit!

Peace Corps is volunteer service like americorp so do not expect to become wealthy, Peace Corps will forgive you of the student loans!

https://studentaid.ed.gov/sites/default/files/peace-corps-and-loan-repayment_1.pdf

Peace Corps service also will earn you preference in hiring with the civil service but I am told I can’t use my army veteran preference at the same time, that would have been 20 or 25 points out of a hundred

The Armed forces YMCA scholarship for this program asks the following questions;   who you are, your Military Service, any disabilities, were you OIF/OEF,  What you plan on doing with the education, how come you are not using your GI Bill, Do you own land, will your business be organic?  Can you contribute $1500 toward your own tuition?

EDIT 10 January 2015

It should be noted that I sailed on the M/V Marilyn in 2007/2008 charted by the USAID food for peace. We traveled from the Grainery in new Orleans to Maputo  and Nacala bay Mozambique

I am well versed in the controversy in regards to delivery of free USDA grain to nations no longer in strife as this creates a dependency and/or disrupts the local markets,I have had this conversation with the Michigan Peace Corps recruiter who knows that I have an interest in the concept of permaculture and its this put into practice is my goal with the peace corps

Rappolee interstellar low energy transfer trajectories

My Hypothesis is  that a world ship needs less energy  to slow at its destination if the voyage is made as the target star is making a close approach and is veering away from the home star system.

To the world ship it would appear as if  we were coming up from behind the stars line of flight and we come up alongside the target star.

***   By FrancescoA (File:Near-stars-past-future-de.svg) [CC BY-SA 3.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0)%5D, via Wikimedia Commons

Indeed the Rappolee transfer trajectory could have implications for panspermia  in that meteorites with a higher incoming speed    would be more likely to  destroy life a to an interstellar meteorites incoming at slower speeds from a star moving away from us after  lose encounter

EDIT 26 December 2014

A new paper on ballistic Mars capture orbit, fly a ballistic orbit to a future point in space where Mars will be, would apply to my idea for future lose approaches by stars?

ULA IVF and their H2-O2 Thruster System program implications for deep space Cubesat missions

ULA IVF program was meant to replace the Helium ullage gas system and provide station keeping using residual fuel, does the H2-O2 Thruster System program replace the IVF program? NASA has partly defunded fuel depot work  and transferred this work to a ground test program only

The author of paper, “orbital disposal of launch vehicle upper stages”   linkeDin page shows her not in the project lead  as of August 2014.Should we be sad? Yes, but maybe not to worry ,the paper does state that technology useful in ACES might make its way to the SLS upper stage(with 4 engines) and upper stages with fewer than 4 engines. My take on this is that the air force with its recent RFI for engines and NASA contracted SLS upper stage with Boeing   might  yet create synergies for both programs.

A number of years ago I mused with Mr Bernard Kutter of ULA about the idea of keeping LHe 2 cool with a fuel depot. The LHE 2 was for transfer to cryogenic space telescope. Later I discarded the idea in favor of a fuel tanker delivering the cryogenic helium to  space telescope and then making its fuel depot run.

On selenium boondocks  I  posted comments  on ideas of hybrid chemical ion hybrid in space stages but now I would like to write more about disposal burns  that could be further optimized with a cryogenic Xenon in space  powered ion engine,And Mr Goff hs written about early SLS upper stages in regards to ACES.

http://selenianboondocks.com/2013/06/random-thoughts-sls-dual-use-upper-stage-as-a-super-aces/

If Ms Gravelee is no longer ULA chief of the fuel depot program there  I hope she is on the SLS ACES/EUS work.

The Boeing SLS would be the way  to create a SLS upper stage with the  ability that has been advocated  for the ACES  stage

We propose that IVF and/or H2-O2 thruster program be augmented with a LXe tank kept cryogenic with LH2 boil off.     An ion engine could loft all upper stages into Heliocentric orbits and turn all upper stages into cubesat /secondary payload opportunities

This paper shows a requirement for a   5 day coast to lunar orbit for EUS Upper Stage EUS requires 5 day coast

Development_Status_of_an_Integrated_Propulsion_and_Power_System_for_Long_Duration_Cryogenic_Spaceflight_2012

99-0288  This paper describes  multiple burns over many months from GTO and escape

1. “At some predetermined time after
GTO launch, perform the first burn at GTO
perigee in the orbit plane to enter a high ellipse
of between 700,000 km to 1,500,000 km
apogee distance. This will require 720 to 750
m/s delta-v out of the GTO” (3)

2.”To deorbit a 2727 kg spent stage inserted into the GSO belt would require some 1300 kg of
propellant, seemingly not an unreasonable mass”(1)

A question we have is how much fuel  or m/s delta-v is required to send 2727 Kg into a Moon crossing orbit? another would be how much LXe would be needed for the same mission? It is 1,500 M/S from GTO to earth so according to Gravlee 1,300 kg of propellant  is required to provide 1,500 m/s to a 2,727 kg stage to destructive reentry. but we want to preserve spent stages for future use so heliocentric or L2 storage is better. We need 760 M/S to L-1 Halo so this must be half of the 1,300 kg**.GTO to translunar is 700 M/S

**  http://www.astro.cornell.edu/~berthoud/alpsat/chapter5.html

****   “Raise the apogee to about 1 million km, so
hat the apogee velocity is very small. This
adds only about 72 m/s to the ∆v compared
with an apogee raise to the Moon’s distance.
– Perform a plane change at apogee (∆v =
300 m/s approximately), so that the orbit’s
return leg meets the Moon’s orbit”

****  http://www.esa.int/esapub/bulletin/bullet103/biesbroek103.pdf

So raising the ULA stage to  an apogee of 1 million Kilometers  uses 72   M/S and a plane change at 300 M/S but also requires that the spent stage stay alive and pressurized for 50 plus days

Synopsis; All GTO upper stages could be disposed of into heliocentric orbit with ion power from Argon ullage gases and ULA’s proposed HO2 H2 thrusters and 50 day life

“savuporo” over at NASA SPACEFLIGHT.COM makes a great find!  so our thoughts are spent GTO upper stages stored in DRO orbits

Skyab two a mission for both SLS and commercial crew?

Skyab two a mission for both SLS and commercial crew and cargo? its proposed to merge ISS and Human spaceflight budgets and projects in 2025

(A)(1)In 2020 NASA has forecast an ISS budget of 4.6 Billion year

(A)(2) between 2020 and 2025 Human space flight directorate shall  fund the proposed Skylab II (1) for docking to ISS.This is from the human spaceflight directorate budget

(A)(3) The ARM ion powered system shall boost this this stack into GTO and then into LLO or L2 or possibly GEO,This uses a minority of the ISS budget. The ISS budget shall be responsible for commercial crew to ISS after clearing the Van allen belts

(A)(4) After 2025 A second Skylab II(2) shall carry logistics  to the first but logistics Skylab shall become interplanetary spacecraft in their own right.

(A)(5)2028 Skylab II (3) This is the Phobos/Deimos Skylab It may need a logistics Skylab(4)

(A)(6) Skylab 1,2,3 and 4 will need commercial cargo  to GEO,LLO, and Mars orbit

Un-crewed Skylab  to Mars shall carry uncrewed Orion and commercial capsules since the ARM derived ion powered tug should be able to do this job and Orion and Dagon could be tasked with the job of crew ferry, this is forward deployed logistics

NASA/SOFIA Star Shades in night time orbits for permanent eclipse 2.0

This post is a continuance of nuclear powered spy sats in night-time obits for permanent eclipse 1.5. here we discuss using the NASA/SOFIA  airborne observatory in conjunction with two  star shade spacecraft in Molniya orbits. Another spacecraft would be in super synchronous orbit.

All 4 spacecraft would need to  ion powered  so that future occultations could allow for SOFIA airborne observatory the star shade to maneuver into position. The two Molniya spacecraft would have a perigee  in the sunlight so  to allow for both spacecraft and aircraft to be in darkness most of Apogee. We Would Need a second spacecraft with a perigee over the daytime northern hemisphere.

The object here is to occult astronomic objects with earth orbiting star-shades or oculters so that SOFIA could maneuver under tha shadow for a few seconds to collect data

I have a plan  for spacecraft in darkness for  large part of their orbits ; A small fission reactor with the SFR radiator inside  the spent stage fuel or oxidizer tank, the tank ullage gas is Argon or Xenon as described here,

Other possibilities are MEO eclipse but these might be too fast for SOFIA to track an object?  Or perhaps SOFIA could better track from a Tundra orbit?

These star shade spacecraft lend themselves to multiple use ? And/or could be a partner project with Canada

http://spaceref.ca/missions-and-programs/canadian-space-agency/polar-communication-and-weather-mission/the-polar-communications-and-weather-mission-cant-come-soon-enough.html

NSF communications with Antarctic bases could be another dual use?

EDIT 25 December 2014

http://space.stackexchange.com/questions/3565/are-there-any-lagrange-points-in-the-solar-system-in-perpetual-shade

Perhaps a star shade at L-2 with the Earth rotating below with SOFIA in flight might work?
